My original plan was to write this blog about "Eating at Walt Disney World for under $35/day". I was really struggling to narrow down all the delicious and unique foods to fit in that box, so....this series will highlight all the things that I think are worth the money at each park. Some are unique, some are just straight-up delicious, and some are things that are off the beaten path that if you didn't know were there, you would miss completely.
It can be stressful to have all sorts of decisions to make when you are heading to the parks with your family (or let's be honest, even by yourself). This will just be quick service and snack items, maybe I will do a follow-up with table service restaurants inside the parks. These are obviously my opinions but stick with me, I won't lead you astray!!!
Enjoy part 1, quick service and snacks at the Magic Kingdom.
Breakfast
Main Street Bakery - I am a Starbucks girl and there is nothing better than a Starbucks Iced Coffee from Main Street Bakery and sitting in front of the castle!! (Some will argue that Joffery's is better, but I stand by my choices!! )
Gaston's Tavern - Go to the back of the park and get the GIANT Cinnamon Roll from Gaston's Tavern. It is big enough to split with another person AND you can get an extra side of icing (totally worth it) for a little bit extra.
Sleepy Hollow - Sleepy Hollow will come up again for lunch/dinner, but I can't talk about breakfast without mentioning the Fresh Fruit Waffle Sandwich. This is a fresh waffle served with Strawberries, Banana, Blueberries, and a Chocolate-Hazelnut Spread (aka Nutella). Every time I have ordered this it has been FILLED with fruit and was pretty filling. I am a sweet over savory breakfast person, and this is one of my favorite things to eat at Magic Kingdom.
Lunch/Dinner
Columbia Harbor House - This restaurant is located in Liberty Square, across from the Haunted Mansion, with lots of tables and a great place to take a break from the heat. I am a fan of the Lobster Roll served with french fries. It is a good portion of chilled lobster mixed with just enough mayonnaise. It hits the spot every time!! I also like the grilled salmon on the Kid's Disney Check Meals. It is a decent piece of grilled salmon with two sides (I like the green beans and the hushpuppies), and a drink. Technically, you have to be 9 or younger to order off the kids menu, but I would be lying if I said I didn't order kids meals from time to time.
Sleepy Hollow - This may be my favorite quick-service restaurant in all of Walt Disney World. I haven't had anything that isn't delicious, but my favorite thing to order is the Sweet-and-Spicy Chicken-Waffle Sandwich. It is Broccoli Slaw with Honey-Siracha Glaze served with Chips and is very filling and super delicious.
Snacks
The Lunching Pad - There are many pretzel options throughout the park but by far my favorite is the cream cheese pretzel from the Lunching Pad. The Lunching Pad is located in Tomorrowland, right under the Peoplemover. It is the most delicious, warm pretzel filled with sweet cream cheese.
Aloha Isle - AKA - the Dole Whip stand. Located in Adventureland, there are a few really delicious sweet treat options that all involve the Dole Whip. You can get Pineapple, Coconut, or Vanilla Dole Whip by themselves or swirled together. However, I think the real stars of the show here are the Tropical Serenade or the Pineapple Upside-Down Cake. The Tropical Serenade is a float made with POG Juice (Pineapple, Orange, Guava), coconut soft serve, and an Upside-down Pineapple Cake Pop. It is very refreshing and super delicious. I also love the Pineapple Upside-down Cake. This yummy cake is served with your choice of Pinapple Dole Whip, Vanilla soft serve, or the two twisted together. YUM!!
Honorable Mentions
Cheeseburger Spring Rolls at the Spring Roll Cart just outside Adventureland
Pepperjack Pretzel from the Cheshire Cafe in Fantasyland
Sausage and Gravy Tots from the Friar's Nook in Fantasyland
Pro Tip - Save money and bring a refillable water bottle into the parks. Most quick-service restaurants will give you cups of ice water for free.
While everyone has different tastes and food preferences, these are my favorite quick foods to enjoy during a day at Magic Kingdom. Stay tuned for the next installment where I focus on quick service and snacks at Animal Kingdom.
