Cabo San Lucas

When you think of Mexico, what vacation spots pop into your mind? Cancun? Cozumel? Riviera Maya? While those are classics for a reason, let me introduce you to a gem that deserves a spot on your bucket list: Cabo San Lucas. Cabo offers all the charm of Mexico with a laid-back vibe, delicious food, and unforgettable activities. Imagine yourself dining on fresh ceviche, reeling in a trophy fish on a deep-sea fishing adventure, or marveling at majestic whales breaching in the wild. Sounds dreamy, right?

Let’ start with the basics. Cabo San Lucas sits right at the southern tip of the Baja California Peninsula, where the Pacific Ocean meets the Sea of Cortez. Most travelers fly into Los Cabos International Airport (SJD), which is about a 30-minute drive from the city. It’s well-connected to major U.S., Canadian, and Mexican cities, so whether you're hopping on a direct flight or making a connection, you're in good hands. Once you land, you can choose from shuttles, private transfers, or rental cars to kickstart your adventure.

Now, where should you stay? Cabo has options for every traveler—whether you’re splurging on luxury or sticking to a budget. For a jaw-dropping view, the Tourist Corridor is your go-to. This stretch between Cabo San Lucas and San José del Cabo is filled with upscale resorts with amazing oceanfront views. If you crave a little nightlife and easy access to restaurants and shopping, downtown Cabo San Lucas has boutique hotels perfect for keeping you in the middle of the action. Traveling with kids? Check out the calm and family-friendly vibes of San José del Cabo or resorts around Medano Beach.

Speaking of families, Cabo has activities for all ages! One of the must-dos is a boat trip to El Arco, the iconic rock formation where the Sea of Cortez meets the Pacific. If you’re visiting during the winter months, don’t miss whale watching – seeing these gentle giants up close is pure magic. Have animal lovers in the family? The Cabo Dolphin Center is a hit with kids, offering safe and educational interactions with dolphins. And for those who crave a little adrenaline, try ziplining through the desert canyons or exploring the Baja outback on an ATV. If snorkeling is your thing, take a short drive to Cabo Pulmo National Park and dive into an underwater wonderland.

Of course, no trip to Cabo is complete without some beach time, but here’s the thing: not all beaches in Cabo are safe for swimming. Strong currents can make some spots dangerous, but there are plenty of safe options. Medano Beach is a fan favorite with calm waters. It’s perfect for families, paddleboarding, and kayaking. For a quieter vibe, head to Chileno Beach or Santa Maria Beach, where you’ll find crystal-clear waters and snorkel opportunities. Just remember to keep an eye on the beach flags for safety warnings.

When we visited Cabo, we stayed at Hacienda Del Mar Los Cabos. This resort beautifully blends traditional Mexican charm with modern luxury, offering breathtaking views of the Sea of Cortez. Located in the exclusive Cabo del Sol area, it’s perfect for families or groups, with spacious suites and villas that feel like home. We spent our days lounging by the pools and strolling through lush gardens. While the beach here isn’t safe for swimming, the pristine shoreline and ocean views are spectacular.

Now we can’t forgot about the food! Cabo’s culinary scene is as vibrant as its sunsets. Whether you’re dining on shrimp ceviche at a local spot or indulging in gourmet dishes at a high-end restaurant, you’re in for a treat. Make sure to try Baja-style fish tacos and of course a refreshing margarita. Each bite and sip feels like a celebration of Cabo itself. Check out some of our favorite restaurants in Cabo: Roasted, Panache, Flora Farms, and Case Martin. Reservations recommended.

Finally, if you are really looking to unwind in Cabo, go for a massage! Cabo is filled with amazing spots for a relaxing massage and our absolute favorite is The Sand Bar. Not only does it offer fantastic prices, but it’s located right on the beach, so you can unwind to the soothing sounds of the ocean.

So, are you ready to trade in the hustle and bustle for the sun-soaked serenity of Cabo San Lucas? It’s more than a vacation; it’s an experience that stays with you long after the sand has been washed from your flip-flops.

So, what Part of the world would you like to travel to?
